A Fall Trip to the Orchard

Now that it is mid-October, every single time a beautiful, sunny, warmer-than-average day rolls around, we all feel the need to take full advantage of it.  Today was definitely one of those days with blue skies, plenty of sun, a light breeze, and a 70-degree high!

So, after the early service at church this morning we decided to hit up an apple orchard in Afton, MN.  We've been so busy these past few months that I thought we probably wouldn't get around to visiting an orchard this year (with the exception of the farm trip we went on with Zach's preschool).
I am so glad we took advantage of our free afternoon and spent some time enjoying the beautiful Fall day together as a family.

Ben and I have only been to the Afton Apple Orchard once...about nine years ago after we were first married.  We remembered having a great time together, but since we didn't have kids at the time, we didn't really pay attention to the kid-friendly offerings available.  Never fear, there were TONS of things to keep the kids more than occupied!

We began our visit snacking on a caramel apple, apple and pumpkin donuts, and an apple fritter.  YUMMY!  Although all were delicious, the apple fritter was by far the best of the treats.

The kids had a great time exploring the playground and fall decor before we headed over to the petting zoo and apple cider press.

Next up was face painting.

Then the kids all took a ride on the Moo-Moo Choo-Choo.

Finally it was time to board the hayride for our trip to the pumpkin patch.

We searched and searched until we found everyone's perfect pumpkin.

We had a great time together....and apparently, Ben and I weren't the only ones feeling a little tired after our time outside.

Next weekend....carving our pumpkins!!  The kids already can't wait.
