Fall Yard Clean Up

Despite the weather being misty and rainy on Saturday, it cleared up enough Sunday afternoon for us to get outside and start tackling all those leaves.

This was the first year that having kids actually proved helpful with yard work. I still can't believe how many bags the kids filled up on their own.  It was great!  And, there was not one complaint...mostly because I don't think they viewed it as "work" at all.  Especially since they were throwing leaves and jumping in the humongous leaf pile between tossing handfuls of leaves into the yard waste bags.

When it was all said and done, we filled up 22 bags of leaves!

And unfortunately, we still have more leaves...on the trees!  Although our biggest tree in the backyard is bare, our front yard birch tree and a few other smaller trees around our yard have quite a few leaves hanging on for dear life.

In between leaf clean up, Zach also managed to learn how to pump himself on the swings.  Yippeee!  No more pushing needed for two of the three kids in this family!  He was so proud of his accomplishment that he declared he was going to swing for the rest of the day...and he seriously lasted for about 45 minutes...which is quite impressive considering his attention span.

I'm certain after today's hard work, we will all sleep soundly tonight!
