Even though we already celebrated Olivia's birthday this past weekend, I still wanted to make her day special. So, we began the morning with birthday pancakes:
(Isn't her smile lovely? I think it looks a little something like a pirate, but it is always what we get when we pull out the camera and ask her to smile. So, we have all these pictures of her with this cheesy little grin and her eyes half closed...ha!)
Allie had been working on a special birthday present that was finally ready on Olivia's birthday.
It was pretty cute to watch Allie read the Minnie Mouse book that she had written and illustrated specifically for Olivia!
After we dropped Allie off at school, I decided to spend the rest of the day at the Children's Museum in downtown St. Paul. I can't even remember the last time we were there and Olivia is at the perfect age to be able to enjoy almost everything.
Both Olivia and Zach had such a great time exploring all the exhibits. There was a medieval castle exhibit and a ball-o-rama exhibit that was new to us that the kids enjoyed.
I didn't get a lot of pictures because we were too busy having fun. I think the kids' favorite part was the water and bubble area...oh, and for some reason they also thought it was really cool to sit in this city bus replica.
Painting their own faces was definitely a hit.
And afterward we even got to meet Sparky the Fire Dog.
We also enjoyed a quick lunch at Subway and some special birthday caramel corn from the Candy Land store that is just a short walk away from the museum.
After the museum, we made a quick stop at Grandma's before it was time to pick Allie up from school. Then, we all decided on birthday pizza for dinner.
It was a busy, but fun day celebrating Olivia!
