If there was any question as to winter's arrival, this weekend has given us a firm answer...in the form of 12+ inches of SNOW! Normally, I'm not too crazy about snow, but after not having much of the white stuff last year and enduring a brown Christmas, I was more than ready to have some snow!
The kids were pretty excited to wake up to everything covered in a blanket of white.
In fact, soon after determining we would forego braving the roads to church, the kids were all bundled up and ready to head outside.
After running (or attempting to run in snow that went up to their knees!) around the backyard for a while, we walked up the road to our neighborhood school to go sledding.
Both Allie and Zach remembered sledding from last year and wasted no time jumping on their sleds and sliding down the hill. Olivia, on the other hand, was a little hesitant. Even though she rode over to the school on the sled (courtesy of Daddy), she was not as excited to head down the hill. She did manage to make it down twice...once with Daddy and once with Zach. It was snowing so hard at the time, though, that I didn't get any pictures!
We returned home wet and chilly, but more than ready for some hot chocolate and pizza!
After lunch we decided to make our annual Rolo/Pretzel/M&M Christmas bites. The kids were excited to help and remembered exactly what to do from last year. Olivia, however, ate more pretzels and rolos than she put on her cookie sheet.
After the candy making, Allie and I also decided to make a batch of Christmas spritz cookies.
All the while, the snow continued to fall! Ben just came in from snow blowing and claimed the snow hit just a little below his knee...and it is STILL COMING DOWN!
Although we were snowed in, we had a great time listening to Christmas carols, baking cookies, watching movies, and enjoying the snow! Now it is definitely starting to look like Christmas inside and out!
