Christmas Day Recap

We woke up early on Christmas morning to the kids running through the hallway as they were trying to get a glimpse of what was in their filled stockings.  Consequently, we were up well before the sun and in my sleepy-not-yet-consumed-coffee-state, I didn't get too many pictures of the stocking opening.  Olivia also still had a raging eye infection, so even though she was just as excited as Allie and Zach, she looks less than thrilled in most of the pictures I took.  Poor girl.

After stockings we ate breakfast:  egg bake and Christmas cinnamon rolls!  Yum!

After breakfast, we headed over to my parents' house for the remainder of the day.  Since the kids could barely function due to the excitement over round 2 of Christmas gifts, we decided to open the presents right away.

We spent the rest of the day watching Christmas movies ("White Christmas," of course!), relaxing, visiting, and eating.  We missed my sister and her family, but were able to talk with them briefly before lunch.  Here we all are right before our Christmas lunch (minus Ben because he was taking the picture)...

At the end of the day, the kids changed into their new pjs (thanks to Grandma and Grandpa), inhaled their bowls of peppermint ice cream with Christmas cookies (yes, that is what they ate for dinner), and we headed home.  All three kids were sound asleep within minutes!  What a fun Christmas!

Christmas Eve

After taking Olivia to the doctor this morning and securing eye drops for her eye infection, Christmas Eve festivities commenced.

We started out with pizza for lunch...pizza in the shape of gingerbread girls and boys!

After lunch, we enjoyed some of our Christmas cookies...but not without first singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus!

Then, we opened our family present:  a new board game!  We all had fun playing it together before opening the rest of our presents.

We spent the rest of the afternoon putting together Legos, playing with toys, listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, being puked on by the dog (oh wait, that was just me), and enjoying our time together!

Christmas Cookie Baking

It never feels quite like Christmas until we've created more treats than we can possibly eat!  We were successful again this year and had more than enough to share with family and friends.  We split up our kitchen time into two weekends...which was definitely best as the kids were much more helpful.  I think this is actually the first year that we ran out of sugar cookies to frost...instead of losing interest, they were looking for more cookies to decorate.  We had a great time together and have been enjoying the fruits of our labor!
