Annual Pumpkin Carving

This year's pumpkin carving definitely set the bar high for subsequent years!  We stepped up our game a notch, and instead of doing the traditional (and much simpler) jack-o-lantern face, I downloaded a few Disney stencil templates that we painstakingly cut out and traced on the kids' pumpkins.

One Lightening McQueen Pumpkin, One Ariel Pumpkin, and One Princess Sofia the First Pumpkin
While Ben and I did most of the tracing and cutting work (Allie was really the only one able to help with this part), the kids ran around the basement with the dog.  At one point, Allie requested a picture.

After Ben cut off the bottoms, we had the kids do the dirty work...although, after just a couple scoops, Zach and Olivia wanted nothing to do with the pumpkin goop.  Allie, on the other hand, stuck with it and completely gutted her pumpkin all by herself!

At this point, Zach and Olivia were pretty much done with the whole pumpkin carving experience.  So, I tackled Lightening McQueen with Ben's sharpest pocket knife while he broke out the Dremel to work on Princess Sofia.  Allie continued to gut her pumpkin until Ben finished with Sofia and went on to supervise Allie while she hand carved a majority of Ariel.  We were all quite impressed with the end results!

Olivia's new favorite way to photobomb almost every single picture I try to take!

Since we carved the pumpkins in the morning, we had to wait all day for it to get dark...thankfully, the long wait was worth it!
