Our Four Day Weekend Recap

Last week was only a 3-day school week and we were all looking forward to the 4-day weekend!  Although we didn't have any grand plans, we were anticipating the down time that not having to be at school brings.  The kids were especially excited to stay in pajamas all morning and play to the heart's content.  While we did have some homework to complete, we made sure to take a couple days free of homework and piano practice.

Thursday was just me, the kids, and Finn.  We had a couple of errands to run in the morning and ended up at JoAnn Fabrics in search of items to craft a golden headband for Allie's Halloween medieval princess costume.  Not only did we find the perfect golden headband and golden flowers (that I later hot glued together), but the kids also spotted some Disney character T-shirts on the clearance rack that were intended for fabric markers.  So, with the use of my handy 40 percent off coupon, we made our way home with a few craft projects to keep us busy for the remainder of the day.  In between coloring shirts, we made a batch of pumpkin baked oatmeal, pumpkin snicker doodles, and pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting.  When the sun finally started to come out in the early afternoon, we made sure to enjoy the best part of the day by taking Finn on a walk.

The rest of the weekend Ben was home with us.  We ran some more errands, took Zach to a make-up piano lesson, enjoyed lunch out together, watched movies, played board games, caught up on chores around the house, tackled the laundry pile, finally got around to that homework, slept in, stayed up late, started some online Christmas shopping, and generally enjoyed the break with plenty of time at home in our pajamas!

Although we were all sad to see the weekend fly by so quickly, we were glad to be able to enjoy some time together...especially the little bit of time we had outside now that winter seems to have arrived early (27-degrees this morning...YIKES....and I saw a few snow flurries on Monday!).
