This fall has been one of the most amazing falls I can remember: beautiful weather and beautiful colors. There have been only a few days when the sun is not shining and we've barely needed jackets...such a relief after experiencing what was most likely the worst winter EVER. Each time we've stepped out of the house over the past few weeks there are new colors to see, from vibrant oranges to fiery reds and gleaming golds.
A few weekends ago, we decided to take advantage of one of the many beautiful fall days we've had and made our way down to Wabasha, WI for their SeptOberfest. I'm still not quite sure what 'SeptOberfest' means, but after seeing the entire town decked out in hundreds of pumpkins, the kids kept calling it the pumpkin festival, which seems much more fitting.
The drive was a little longer than the kids would have liked, but they ended up appreciating the beauty in the fall colors as well (or, at least for the moments they decided to look up from their Leap Pads or books to look out the window at what we were pointing to!).
We spent our time walking around the town, participating in a few fall-themed games, eating lunch at a local Pub, and even going on a horse-drawn carriage ride. We even stopped at the National Eagle Center and got our picture taken with a Bald Eagle. We had a great day together and we continue to enjoy exploring new places near our new home!
